Luxury car division of newborn Hyundai Genesis revealed kendaaraan named Genesis New York Concept.
The design team led by Peter Schreyer, introduced a new styling direction for the brand and more interesting, abstract interpretation of what their future products and in particular, they are the BMW 3-Series competitor might look like.
vehicles that will eventually come to fruition as Genesis G70; The four-door saloon with a sleek proportion of rear-wheel-drive. So how does finally show up? Well, we have taken the liberty to ponder into the crystal ball and make it into production.
Speaking of design
One of the most important aspects of the concept of Genesis was a long hood and short deck; we realize this interpretation to emphasize the powerful stance. Front-end styling is dominated by a large grille-like chrome G80, air intakes angles and intersect cutouts lights.
While Concept has an interesting pattern fender vents, this study employs subtle fender creases that almost has the appearance of a reverse-Z when coupled with a strong shoulder line. The cabin delicate silhouettes tapered towards the back to see the coupe-like, with a slim horizontal tail lights accentuate the width.
The cabin styling is expected to soften significantly from the concept, but it will show some of the more common design theme and subtle detailing. The composition of the four-seater from the show-car will be turned into five, with space and technology enough stuff to play toe to toe with its rivals.
Speculating on hardware
But it was under the bodywork where the most intrigue; New York preview show off hybrid setup with a 2.0-liter four mated to an electric motor, making a combined total of 242 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque - not potent. But with eight-speed automatic distribution of power to the rear wheels, it can make quite a car driver involved, take the struggle to the 3-Series and Jaguar XE in the handling stakes.
Interestingly, there has been speculating about the G70 shared platform (code-named CK) with the Kia GT sedan. If so, this could also open up the possibility of a turbocharged 3.3-liter V-6 is used, which will pump out close to 350 horsepower.
It entered the highly contested segment
Battling against the established luxury players such as the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C Class, and Jaguar XE will not be easy for the G70 - it's still early days for the brand Genesis and will take some time to command a loyal following. Where it will stand out among its competitors is in a unique style and a lower price point.
So when we can expect the real thing to arrive? If this speculation is correct, the G70 could appear in production trim the beginning of the 4th quarter of this year or early 2017. Later in the street, variant G70 Coupe is also anticipated and will serve as a rival for the Audi A5 coupe, BMW and MB series 4- Class C coupe.
